Yap Yun Fung

Position: LMC Chair



Alex Yap, who has more than 14 years’ experience in the manufacturing and services sectors, is the principal consultant and trainer for Centrex Training & Consultancy for quality improvement, green productivity tools, cost saving, 5S implementation and Kaizen blitz. He holds a Masters degree in Quality and Productivity Improvement and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environment. A qualified ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 auditor, Alex Yap is also a Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) registered consultant, Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Technical Expert and a certified Quality Engineer and senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He serves as the ASQ Country Counsellor for Malaysia and a founding member of the ASQ Malaysia Local Member Committee. Alex Yap served as National Expert in APO Green Productivity Assessment Program and worked with the APO’s Member Country Support Program to establish ISO 14051 MFCA model companies and to develop the MFCA training and instructors’ manual.

Winson Choo

Position: Communications Chair 


Winson is Test Leader of Australian based MNC, heading the software testing teams, the quality direction and strategy of the company’s product and services for Asia Pacific region. He has over 17 years of experience in IT, specifically in the area of quality improvement, process establishment/improvement and set up software testing teams with relevant industry standard. He also holds an MBA specializing in e-commerce. Winson has successfully deployed enterprise OEM products, online program management system with 30000 users and multiple hospitality system based products worldwide. Winson is also well versed in setting up technical partnership and technical certification with companies such as Avaya, Nortel and Cisco. Winson is a strong believer in agile methodology and has experience as an active Scrum Master. He is a CSM/CSP from Scrum Alliance and currently an active contributor within the community, CMQ/OE from American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI and is an active member of PMI, and a Certified LSSGB from Motorola University. He is active in developing local quality circle and quality group. He is online enthusiast and administers several forums in regards to software testing.


Ir Raj Sekar Sethu

Position: Certification Chair

Raj brings together more than 13 years of experience in the aspects of product, process, quality & equipment development and continuous improvement within the semiconductor industry. He has worked with cross functional, multi-cultural teams in global semiconductor companies both in backend and frontend plants that specialize in automotive grade semiconductors. He currently leads the Customer Quality Engineering team in X-FAB Semiconductor Foundries’ plant in Kuching, Malaysia. Raj is a Senior Member of ASQ and holds 4 ASQ Certifications i.e. Six Sigma Green Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Engineer and Reliability Engineer. Raj is a registered Professional Engineer (PEng) in theBoard of Engineers Malaysia and a Corporate Member (MIEM) of theInstitution of Engineers Malaysia. He is also a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) registered in theNational Professional Engineers Registrar Australia (NPER). Raj graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) & a Master of Information Technology both from the University of Malaya.



Michael Wong

Position: Chair – Membership


Experienced consultant in assisting the organization in designing and developing operation excellence strategy to systematically improve and sustain the effectiveness/efficiency of operations in order to achieve high performance business results. This involves organization diagnostic/assessment, process re-engineering, change management and utilization of proven method and methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Hoshin Kanry, 8D, Kaizen Events, etc.) to create a continuous improvement culture. Integrate the existing quality management systems to align with the continuous improvement initiative in achieving operations excellence level measured through key performance indicators. Maintain good operational practices and discipline, such as 5S Housekeeping in both operations and offices environment. Synthesize data from multiple sources (Financial, Operations, Quality, Human Resources, etc) to conduct efficiency gap analysis. Provide consolidated information to management for business decision. This involve value stream mapping, X matrix, scorecard, etc. Involve in the formulation and implementation of operation capability build up roadmap. Conduct training and coaching for Six Sigma and Lean in bilingual (English & Mandarin) language. Regional exposure – experience working with people and project across different nationality and region. This involve Singapore, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippine, Indonesia, USA, Europe, Canada, Korea, etc.


sumitha K. Sumitha Kannan

Position: Area Chair – South


Ms.Sumitha Kannan is currently a  Quality Manager at Venture Technocom Sdn Bhd, an EMS provider responsible for product and process quality of printed circuit assemblies.  She is a Senior Member of ASQ.  She has over 23 year’s hands on experience in Product Development, Process improvement, Manufacturing and Material management, Customer Support, Quality improvement, Subcontract/Supplier management & Logistics support of shipments from Supplier,  She graduated from University of Malaya with a 2nd Class Bsc (Hons) Degree in Physics in 1990. She has gained vast experience in various  Japanese and US based MNC’s  including Asahi Electronics, AIWA Electronics, Honeywell H&BC, Franklin Electronic Publishers Inc. Ms. Sumitha’s Professional Qualifications include RABQSA certified Provisional QMS Auditor (Certification no. 113341),ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (Certification no.14225), ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (Certification no. 39995) and  Manufacturing Management Workshop Specialist  by JAMA. She has also provided free-lance training and workshops  for several Training Organizations on various Quality topics.

Ravindran Shanmugam

Position: Area Chair – North


Ravindran, who has more than 30 years of experience in the manufacturing line (PCB Board, Moulding, Hard Disk Drive & Medical) is currently attached to Medical Device Manufacturing organization as Quality Management Representative. His exposure to Quality Management is very strong. He has worked with cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and exposed to Medical Devices manufacturing for more than 20 years in the field of Quality Responsible. He is very experienced and good in Root Cause Analysis techniques, Risk Management ISO 14971 (DFMEA & PFMEA), Process Controls (Qualification and Validation) and Quality System Administration. He is a strong customer oriented person and a dynamic team player. He holds a Master Degree in Business Administration and a Certified Quality Manager of the American Society of Quality (ASQ). He is a senior member to ASQ. He is also a Qualified Lead Auditor for ISO 13485:2012. He has been travelling to various countries within organization that he worked for to provide his expertise as well as training.

Ir. Ng Sean Lok

Position: Area Chair – Central


Ir. Ng Sean Lok P.Eng, MIEM, ASEAN Eng. is a Construction QA Engineer for Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd. In this role, he is responsible for maintaining Construction QMS of Malikai Deepwater Tension Leg Platform. He works closely with Project leadership team and Quality upper management to make effective decisions as to enable Shell and the contractor to reach their Quality objectives and respond to construction needs. Since joining Royal Dutch Shell in 2007, he has held various oil and gas positions within the organization i.e. Global Solutions, Gumusut-Kakap Deepwater Semi-Submersible Floating Production System and Shell Technology Centre Bangalore, India. A certified QMS lead auditor, he has also attained recognition as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered on the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Corporate Member on the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM) and is a registered ASEAN Engineer too. He holds a MBA and has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree. Driven by a competitive nature and passion for empowering teammates to “do cool things that make a difference,” he’s currently involved in a program of advancing Quality mindset in the organization.
